Today we have had a Hoover DXA59BC3/1-80 Dynamic Next washing machine in our workshop that is displaying E08 error code and does not spin.
Most modern washing machines that have a digital display will show error codes when they sense something is wrong, and in this case for Hoover washing machines E08 means there is a problem with the motor circuit or motor speed sensor, basically there is a motor malfunction, maybe you have noticed it not spinning and the clothes have come out wet.
First we need to disconnect the machine from the mains electric and also disconnect the fill and drain hose.
Next working at the back of the machine we remove the back cover which will reveal the motor and pulley that the belt goes around, we have tilted the machine back against a wall in our example to make the repair easier.
Now we remove the belt from around the drum pulley and motor pulley and we should be able to see the 2 bolts that hold the motor on to the outer tub we remove these bolts with a socket.
Next when we have removed the 2 bolts holding the motor on, we unplug the motor plug and earth wires that are attached to the motor now we should be able to remove the motor out of the machine.
Once the motor is removed we now have access to the hoover motor carbon brushes that are fixed to the motor by 2 screws there are 2 carbon brushes in the motor and they are in black casings.
Now we can remove the wire that is attached to the carbon brush there is a little tab that we need to press so the wire can be pulled off of the brush
We now remove the 2 screws holding the brush to the end of the motor and gently lift away the brush we do this for both brushes and inspect them to see if they are worn down, in our case you can see they are worn right down and will need replacing you can see the difference in length of the worn down brush and the new brushes.
Once we have replaced the brushes with new ones and re connected the wire to the carbon brush we will need to replace the motor back into the machine, this is a reversal of the steps we did to remove the motor, and not forgetting to replace the belt.
Now the machine will need connecting back to the water supply and the drain hose will need putting back from where we disconnected it, and then we plug the machine back into the mains electric and try the machine on a wash cycle.
Conclusion.
In our experience 95% of the time the error code E08 on the Hoover washing machines is caused by worn down motor carbon brushes, hopefully this simple guide explains what the error code could be, any repairs should be carried out by a suitably qualified person with the machine disconnected from the mains supply.
